Welcome to the Miami Valley School! I am honored to serve as MVS’ eighth Head of School.
I was initially drawn to MVS because this school has been a thought leader in education since its founding in 1964. We are a school that values each student’s unique gifts and talents. We challenge, engage, enrich, and empower students in a supportive environment to help each child become their best self. We do this by intentionally designing a learning environment that supports student learning, resilience, and growth. While many schools will claim to do this, our Immersion approach is what makes us stand out.
We know that students learn best when they are engaged in real-world problem-solving and direct experience. Our Immersion Method provides not only the content knowledge and skills that students must have but we also foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. In addition, our students learn to be advocates and can communicate effectively across multiple platforms. At MVS, we have provided a transformative educational experience for 60 years. As a parent, I have personally seen how our approach has transformed the learning for each of my three children. I encourage you to visit us to see our Immersion Approach in person!

About MVSStart Your JourneyThe Immersion Method: This method is based on the knowledge that the best learning is rooted in direct experience, which leads to engagement and discovery of passion. The great part is this often results in deeper learning by making mistakes, taking risks, and testing new ideas. This is the process through which we encourage students to build resilience as they learn and achieve.
Pioneering Academics: MVS believes in continuing to push the envelope by incorporating new and innovative methods into its educational philosophies and necessary skills which are needed for entering the global community.
Social and Emotional Learning: By creating a safe and supportive environment, our students learn to show empathy for others, respect differences, and manage conflict. The SEL mindset and practices are woven into everything we do.
Individualized College Counseling: Education is changing rapidly. We are paying attention not only to how MVS will prepare students for college and to meet the demands of the job market, but also to how we can help students find the college with the best fit for them. 100% of our seniors matriculate to the nation’s top colleges.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Our standard is inclusion of diversity in all of its forms. Through our Diversity Task Force, we encourage thoughtful conversations and reflection about issues pertaining to equity and justice.
